Mickey & Minnie Cove Cabanas at Castaway Cay: Tour, Amenities & Tips

If you've ever sailed on a Disney Cruise that stops at Castaway Cay, you probably already know how beautiful Disney's private island is. Between the turquoise water, sandy beaches, and all the activities, it's one of my favorite parts of a Disney Cruise vacation.

But what if you could make your Castaway Cay day feel a little more special?

That's where the Mickey and Minnie Cove Cabanas come in!

These adorable cabanas offer a private place to relax, some really convenient amenities, and access to a beautiful beach area. They're also some of the most sought-after reservations on a Disney Cruise.

I recently had the opportunity to take a look around the Mickey and Minnie Cove Cabanas, and I'm sharing what they're like, how to get there, what's included, and a few things you should know before adding one to your Disney Cruise wish list.

Getting to the Mickey and Minnie Cove Cabanas

One of the fun things about visiting these cabanas is that getting there feels like a little adventure of its own.

After getting off the Disney Cruise ship at Castaway Cay, you'll board the Castaway Air bus, which takes you farther into the island (towards the adult only section, Serenity Bay). From there, you'll transfer to a golf cart shuttle that brings you over to the cabana area.

Once you arrive, you'll find the entrance to a quieter, more secluded section of Castaway Cay.

I love that you get a little separation from the busier parts of the island while still having access to the things you need throughout the day.

A Look at the Mickey and Minnie Cove Cabanas

First, can we talk about how cute these cabanas are?

Disney has a way of adding those little themed details that make an experience feel extra special, and the Mickey and Minnie Cove Cabanas are no exception.

From the outside, the cabanas are absolutely adorable. But it's what's inside that makes them such a nice option for families looking for a relaxing beach day.

You'll find comfortable seating, plenty of shade, and a space to keep your belongings while you're enjoying the island.

Instead of trying to find beach chairs and carrying everything around with you, you have a dedicated home base for the day.

For families with kids, I can definitely see the appeal. Someone wants to swim? Great! Someone else needs a break from the sun? There's a comfortable place to relax.

And if you're like me and enjoy having a little downtime during a busy vacation, this setup is pretty hard to beat.

What's Included with a Castaway Cay Cabana?

One of the things that makes these cabanas appealing is that you're getting more than just a shaded place to sit.

There are several amenities that make spending the day at the beach a little easier.

Drinks and Snacks

You'll find a selection of drinks and snacks available in your cabana.

It's so convenient to have refreshments right there, especially when you're spending time going back and forth between the beach and your cabana.

Towels and Sunscreen

Another nice perk? Towels and sunscreen are provided.

These are little conveniences, but they make a difference when you're trying to enjoy your vacation without worrying about every little detail.

Inner Tubes

Inner tubes are also included with your cabana amenities!

And honestly, floating around in that beautiful Castaway Cay water sounds like a pretty perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Your Own Shower

This might be one of my favorite practical features.

There's a shower right at the cabana, which means you can rinse off all that sand before heading back to the ship.

Anyone who has spent a beach day with kids knows just how much sand seems to come along for the ride!

Having somewhere to rinse off before leaving is such a nice convenience.

Let's Talk About That Beautiful Water

One of the biggest reasons I'd consider booking a cabana is the beach itself.

The water in this area is absolutely beautiful, and the protected swimming area is generally calm, making it a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the ocean.

You can spend your time swimming, floating in an inner tube, or simply enjoying the view from your beach chair.

And with your cabana just steps away, it's easy to move between the beach and your shaded space throughout the day.

Of course, ocean conditions (and ocean critters) can always vary, but this is definitely the kind of setting that makes you want to slow down and stay awhile.

Dining and Restrooms Are Convenient, Too

One thing I always think about when planning a family vacation is convenience.

Where are we going to eat? How far away are the restrooms? Are we going to spend half our day walking back and forth?

Fortunately, the Mickey and Minnie Cove Cabana area has some convenient options nearby.

Restrooms are close, and when you're ready for lunch, you can head over to Hangar 98.

Having dining nearby means you can enjoy lunch without feeling like you're spending a big part of your beach day traveling across the island.

And since lunch is already included as part of your Disney Cruise experience at Castaway Cay, you can head over, grab something to eat, and get back to enjoying your cabana.

Are the Mickey and Minnie Cove Cabanas Worth the Splurge?

This is where I think the answer really depends on your family and what kind of Castaway Cay day you're hoping to have.

If your family loves spending time at the beach, enjoys having a private space, and wants a more relaxing day, a cabana could be a wonderful addition to your Disney Cruise.

I especially like the idea for families with younger children, multigenerational groups, or anyone who appreciates having a comfortable place to escape the sun.

But here's something important to remember: You absolutely do not need a cabana to have an amazing day at Castaway Cay.

There are plenty of complimentary beach chairs, umbrellas, dining options, and activities available to Disney Cruise guests.

A cabana is a luxury experience, not a necessity.

For some families, it's a splurge they'll absolutely love. For others, that money might be better spent on another experience during their vacation.

And that's exactly why I believe Disney Cruise planning should be personalized to your family.

My Travel Advisor Tip: Know Your Booking Window

Here's something I always want my Disney Cruise clients to understand before their activity booking window opens.

Castaway Cay cabanas are extremely limited and very popular.

Disney Cruise Line allows guests to reserve onboard activities and Port Adventures based on their Castaway Club membership status and other eligibility requirements.

That means some guests have access to reservations before others.

And because cabanas are so popular, they may already be booked by the time your reservation window opens.

Even if you're ready to book the minute your window opens, availability isn't guaranteed.

My advice? If a cabana is high on your wish list, make sure you understand your booking window ahead of time, and have a backup plan for your island day.

I also recommend checking back for cancellations, because plans can change.

Final Thoughts: A Little Extra Magic at Castaway Cay

The Mickey and Minnie Cove Cabanas really are a fun way to experience Disney's Castaway Cay.

Between the adorable theming, comfortable private space, included amenities, convenient shower, and that beautiful calm water, it's easy to understand why they're so popular.

Would I recommend a cabana for every family? Not necessarily.

But for families looking to splurge on a relaxing beach day, it's definitely an experience worth considering.

And whether your perfect Castaway Cay day involves a private cabana, exploring the island, or spending every possible minute in the ocean, the most important thing is planning a vacation that fits your family.
